Lady Cats rev up fast break

PAMPA — Brittany Blackmon and Aimee Hilburn took turns dominating the game as the well-rested Clovis Wildcats beat Pampa, Texas, 51-34 on Saturday in their final game before the Christmas break.

Blackmon, a 5-foot-10-inch sophomore, scored all of her game-high 17 points in the first half and Hilburn (16 points), a 5-11 sophomore, did most her damage in the second and third quarters.

Clovis (8-2) never trailed while winning its second-straight game.

The Lady Wildcats finished a stretch of seven game in 10 days Monday.

With the Lady Wildcats pushing the ball up court at every opportunity, Hilburn sparked a 16-4 run at the start of the third quarter as Clovis more than doubled an 11-point halftime lead to 47-24 late in the third quarter.

Pounding the offensive boards, Blackmon helped Clovis to a 21-10 lead midway through the second quarter. Blackmon’s three-point play on a fast break put Clovis up 28-16 and completed a dominating first half.

Lindsey Hammond led the perimeter-oriented Lady Harvesters (6-9) with nine points off the bench, and Callie Cobb added six.
