Mrs. Elizabeth B. Smith, 95, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at her home north of Clovis.

She was born Feb. 5, 1908, in Gratiot County, Mich., to Bertha Mae Johnson and Daniel Martin Bartlett.

She grew up with two brothers and a sister in Omaha, Neb.

In 1928, she married Aubrey Holland, who was killed in action during World War II, leaving six children.

She completed her nursing degree and was known as “Holland” by doctors and nurses. She worked for many years at Clovis Memorial Hospital.

On Dec. 5, 1952, she married Gilbert Smith and they lived at Running Water Draw, north of Clovis, farming and ranching.

She sold milk and eggs to neighbors and other area residents. Later, she volunteered at Plains Regional Medical Center as a Pink Lady, working in the chaplain’s office. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, two husbands and a son, Lawrence Holland.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (and husband Eugene) Lewey and Kathy Holland of Sheffield, Ala.; four sons, Glenn (and wife Ruth) Holland of Fort Sumner, Dan Holland of Nixon, Texas, Bud (and Doris) Holland of Amarillo; and Bill (and Donna) Smith of Clovis; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Louis Pattison, Cecil Bunch and Lance Clemmons will officiate the services.

Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Smith, Herschel Wall, Don Crook, Sonny Dunning, Ed Sabia and Armand Smith.

Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
