Duffy Moon, half of the Mix 107.5 morning team Rooney and Moon, said last week in a news release that he plans to be raised 30 feet above Clovis in a 4-by-8-foot metal box until the radio station raises $4,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The official “raising” will take place at 7:20 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Subway store and Soda Fountain on the corner of Prince and Mabry.
“The local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is completely volunteer based. Their goal is to raise funds to grant ‘wishes’ to children with life-threatening illnesses,” he said. “Right now, they are trying to raise funds to grant wishes to four children right here in the Clovis/Portales area. It is our goal to raise the first thousand dollars for each child’s wish.”
Kenda Dickenson of the New Mexico Make-A-Wish board said, “Make-A-Wish has already granted 12 wishes this year, all right here in Eastern New Mexico. Wishes have ranged from trips to Disneyworld to meet Mickey Mouse, to shopping sprees, to sending a young man to Miami, Fla., to meet his hero, Ricky Williams of the Miami Dolphins.
“We have four more that we’re trying to grant right now and each wish costs, on average, $4,500. All of the money is raised locally.”
