Lovelace, John

John David Lovelace, 82, of Farwell, a farmer, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1920, in Farwell, to Tom and Willie Chastain Lovelace.

He graduated from Farwell High School. He married Ann Nabors on Dec. 5, 1947, in Abernathy, Texas. He was a member of the Farwell Masonic Lodge, the Methodist Church and a former member of the Rotary Club. He served as Pastor Parish chairman and taught the “Border Bible Class” at Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Farwell. He was instrumental in helping organize the “Faith at Work” Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church in Clovis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Edgar, Charles, Lloyd, Gene, Woodrow and Arlin; and two sisters, Hazel Thurston and Mary Bilbrey.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marsha Graham (and husband, Jim) of Clovis; a grandson, David Graham (Lisa) of Texico; a great-grandson, Garit Graham of Texico; two sisters, Iona Hamilton of Lubbock and Merle Norris of Clovis; and several nieces and nephews.

Steve McElroy will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Sunset Terrace Memorial Cemetery in Farwell.

Pallbearers will be L.E. Byrd, David Graham, Delbert Lingnau, Todd Lingnau and Kirk Lingnau, Howard Leavell, Richard Hadley and Kirk Fly.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Ford, members of the “Faith at Work” Sunday school class and his nephews and nieces.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
