Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Police noticed a Buick LTD headed southbound on Hull Street from Fifth Street crossing the center lines a number of times shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday morning and pulled the car over. The 29-year-old male driver smelled strongly of alcohol and had an open can of beer in the car.

Because the man spoke no English, police did not attempt field sobriety tests but arrested him and took him to the county jail where a Spanish-speaking detention officer read him the implied consent forms. A breath alcohol test showed results of 0.20 and 0.21, and he was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, open container of alcohol, failure to observe roadways laned for traffic, no license, and no insurance. Police also determined that he was illegally in the United States and notified the border patrol.

About 9 a.m. Friday, police received a call from a Clovis car dealership that a 2001 Chevy S-10 Blazer valued at about $15,000 had been taken from the dealership.

Dealership staff advised that the vehicle has been seen in the area of 14th and Norris streets.

Police responded about noon Friday to a report of pellets being fired at a house on the 1000 block of Mora.

A 17-year-old woman said she had been shooting a pump action .22-caliber rifle at targets in her back yard and did not know it was illegal to shoot at targets on her own property. The woman then became agitated, swore at officers, and told them to leave her property since they did not have a search warrant. After she attempted to leave the area, police then arrested the woman for obstructing a police officer.

After returning to the scene, officers found a number of bullet holes in the fence and windows of nearby homes consistent with shots from a .22-caliber bullet. Police reported they would be obtaining warrants against the woman and her mother for charges including negligent use of a deadly weapon and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A resident of the 100 block of Buccaneer Loop called police about 8:45 a.m. Sunday reporting that a white metal telescoping lawn chair worth about $125 had been damaged overnight.

The owner said the chair had been in her back yard but she found it Sunday morning at the corner of Lew Wallace and Norris with black markings consistent with having been run over by a vehicle.
