Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

While conducting a drunk driving checkpoint on the 600 block of South Prince Street shortly after midnight on Nov. 22, police noticed that the driver of a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup had bloodshot, watery eyes and an odor of alcohol, and pulled him over for investigation.

The driver, later determined to be an 18-year-old from Clovis, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated first offense.

Police responded about noon on Monday to a Clovis business to take a report of embezzlement.

An employee reported that he had seen another employee loading items into a customer’s vehicle for which neither the employee nor the customer had paid.

About 1:30 p.m. Monday, police responded to a Clovis church where a guitar worth more than $1,500 had disappeared.

The owner of the guitar said he had last seen his guitar on Nov. 19 and it had been secured in a locked music room when the church finished its Wednesday evening services. The guitar was described as a black six-string bass instrument with white pearl on the pitguard and contained in a black hardshell plastic case with a cable and strap.

An assistant middle school principal reported on Monday that a fight had occurred on Nov. 13 between two teenage girls before school started.

The assistant principal said no teachers saw the fight but students had talked about a 14- and 13-year-old being involved in the fight. He said the 14-year-old claimed she had hit the 13-year-old after being hit by her. Police reported they would interview both girls before taking action.

On Monday, a Clovis high school assistant principal reported that a 17- and 18-year-old girl had been fighting each other during gym class on Nov. 14.

The gym teacher broke up the fight and both students were suspended. No medical attention was required and police indicated they would contact juvenile probation before taking further action.
