Mall outfitter gives gifts for a cause

Maurices in North Plains Mall is selling a holiday ornament and donating the proceeds to charity.

Tina Kruse, Maurices Clovis store manager, said the store will donate its proceeds to the Lighthouse Mission.

Maurices 420 stores across the nation choose community organizations to which it donates the ornament’s proceeds. The causes range from food shelves and children’s toy funds to shelters.

The ornament will be on sale from Thanksgiving Day through the Christmas holiday season.

Ski area receives 40 inches of snow

A first of the month snowstorm dropped 40 inches of wet, heavy snow at the Wolf Creek Ski Area, creating an excellent base layer for skiers and boarders, a ski area press release said.

Wolf Creek opened Friday for the ski season.

Conditions are considered good for the early season, with a 36-inch base at the summit and 30 inches at the midway stake.
