Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

A Clovis woman called police about 1:40 p.m. Friday to report a suspicious letter. Police arrived and found an envelope addressed to the woman using cut-out newspaper; upon opening it while using security gloves, they found a note saying the woman’s granddaughter is ugly and belongs in a cage.

Police took the letter into evidence for possible prosecution as harassment.

After finding a pickup truck missing from his lot, a Clovis car dealer called police about 3:30 p.m. Friday to report that a white 1990 Ford pickup worth about $8,000 had been stolen.

The dealer said the pickup was a Ford Ranger standard cab long bed with pinstriping, an airbrushed tailgate of a wildlife mountain scene, and a sliding rear glass window. Police issued a “be on the lookout” notice for the vehicle.

Police responded to an elementary school about 3:30 p.m. Friday regarding a problem with a 13-year-old girl who had repeatedly used obscenities in public and verbally insulted a teacher on multiple occasions in public.

Officers took notes on the incident for referral to the Children, Youth and Families Department.

Police found a severely intoxicated 35-year-old man at the 500 block of West Street about 7:20 p.m. Friday. The man’s uncle said his nephew had been drinking all day.

Police took him into protective custody and arranged for treatment of minor injuries.
