Police Blotter 10/2

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, police observed a 17-year-old male on Fourth Street who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The man surrendered without incident. A check of his pockets revealed a knife, a marijuana pipe, and about $1,000 in cash. Police issued him a juvenile citation for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, and released him to the custody of his mother.

Police received a call about noon on Wednesday that a man was hitting a woman on a front porch on the 200 block of West 10th Street.

The woman denied being hit, but witnesses said they saw the man beating the woman and destroying property. After arresting the man, police determined he had marijuana with him and arrested him on drug possession charges as well as battery on a household member.

High school officials called police Monday regarding a student who had been attacked by another student on school grounds.

The assistant principal said she intervened in an altercation between two 16-year-old male students as one grabbed the other and spun him around but before they had the opportunity to throw any punches. Police determined the incident centered on an attempt to intimidate a witness in a criminal sexual contact case from the previous week and reported they would be seeking warrants for battery, false imprisonment, and intimidation of a witness.
