Artist of the Month

Pintores Artist of the Month for November

Pat Weekley has been selected Pintores Artist of the month for November. Her paintings will be on display at Clovis Carver Public Library during November.

She started painting in oils early in the 1980s and began painting with Virginia Gregory. Later taking classes at Clovis Community College, she was introduced to soft pastels in classes taught by Bruce DeFoor. Currently she is painting with Bobby Wied in a Wednesday morning class. She said it is impossible to say which medium she prefers.

“There are advantages and attributes to each one. Whatever I am working with at the time is my favorite,” she said.

She likes to paint still life and landscapes and would like to improve her skills in portraiture. She has been a member of the Pintores Art League for several years, serving as chairman for the Artist of the Month presentations and would like to encourage other artists to join the organization.

“The world we live in is filled with so much beauty and majesty, God’s gift to us, and I want my art to reflect that. Whatever talent and skill that I possess is not my own but is a gift from God,” she said.

She is a retired register nurse and worked at Plains Regional Medical Center about 15 years. Presently she is a member of the Auxiliary (the Pink Ladies) and is an active member of the First Christian Church. She also enjoys quilting when time permits.

She invites everyone to come by the library this month and every month. “We have a lot of excellent talent in this area that is often overlooked,” she said.

The Pintores Art League arranges to have an artist show their art work at the library every month.
