Zias reach .500 mark in volleyball

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — It’s been a long climb to the .500 mark for the Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team.

The Zias finally made it Saturday — and also put themselves in an improved position in the Lone Star Conference South Division race — with a 30-26, 37-35, 30-26 victory over Tarleton State. It was their sixth win in the last seven matches.

Junior Emilie Rodman collected 13 kills — with only one attack error — and junior Anna Bellum added eight kills, 10 digs and two block solos for ENMU (13-13, 5-2 South), now third in the division behind West Texas A&M and Abilene Christian. Meantime, Portales sophomore Olivia Boan came off the bench to contribute four of Eastern’s eight service aces.

The TexAnns (8-21, 0-7) got 14 kills and 10 digs from Crystal White and 11 kills, four block solos and five block assists from Lacey Adkisson.
