Joseph Archie, 87, of Clovis, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at Albuquerque Specialty Hospital.
He was born on June 9, 1916, in Limestone, Texas, to Henry and Idena Massey Archie.
He came to Clovis in 1940 and married Minnie Slaughter on Aug. 28, 1959, in Clovis. He worked in construction for many years, and later owned a farm where he raised cattle and pigs. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the First Church of God in Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Wayne and Joe Lee Archie; three brothers, Henry, Nemiah, and Ruffus Archie; and three sisters, Beatrice Jackson, Elnora Robinson, and Ruby Archie.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Johnny and Scott Foster Archie of Clovis; four daughters, Hennritta Archie-Pop of Clovis, Darnel Doyle of Fort Walton, Fla., Wanda White of Dallas, and Hester England of Clovis; two brothers, E.J. Archie of Houston and Babe Ruth Archie of Odessa, Texas; three sisters, Idena Miller and Edna Fields, both of Odessa, and Inez Weiss of Dallas; 26 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Bishop W. Charles Green will officiate the services. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home in Clovis.
