'Taste' tickets still available

About 235 tickets remain for Thursday’s Taste of Home Cooking School, sponsored by the Clovis News-Journal, the Portales News-Tribune and several other area businesses, newspaper advertising director Tammy Farkas said Saturday.

As of Friday, 765 of the 1,000 available tickets had been sold, she said.

The cooking school will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Clovis’ Marshall Junior High School auditorium. Tickets are $7 a person and are available at the Clovis News-Journal and the Portales News-Tribune. If any are left over, tickets will be available at the door Thursday night.

Offered in conjunction with Taste of Home magazine, one of the best-selling recipe magazines in the country, the cooking school will demonstrate 12 recipes in three segments and give audience members a chance to taste the results.

Recipes typically include “classic lemon meringue pie,” “Southwest sausage crepes,” “Louisiana fish creole” and “ultimate chicken quesadillas,” she said.

In addition, those attending will receive a grocery sack full of coupons, samples and recipes worth about $300, and also be eligible for door prizes provided by several local businesses, Farkas said.

Among the coupon providers are: Albertsons, Bank of Clovis, Towne Crier, Pizza Hut, Cotton Patch, McDaniels Furniture and Plains Regional Medical Center.

The presentation will be moderated by Sheryl Borden, host of KENW TV’s “Creative Living.”
