Mr. Robert “Bob” Hawkins, of Clovis, a retired Church of Christ minister, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
He was born on Feb. 28, 1924, in Lexington, Ky., to Robert B. and Rena Moore Hawkins.
He graduated from Harding University in 1945. He married Betty Maple, August 5, 1945, and began a more- than-60-year Church of Christ gospel ministry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Norma Brannock; and a son, Robbie Hawkins
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jill Firestone (and husband, Ronnie) of Carrollton, Texas; a son, Brad Hawkins (wife Karen) of Hobbs; four grandchildren, Kari Heil, Kelli Lara and Sarah and Ryan Hawkins; two great-grandchildren, Maryn Heil and Jaxon Lara; and two brothers, John Hawkins of Lexington, Ky., and Emmett Hawkins of Rancho Cordova, Calif.
Jim Gammon assisted by Joe Maple will officiate the services.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hunt Cemetery in Kingman, Kan.
Ron Bever will officiate the burial service.
Pallbearers will be Ribble Holloman, Kenneth Jones, Neil McBride, Bobby Newman, Bob Norris and Doug Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dee and Audra Martin, Louis and Waneta Yarborough, Jack and Louise Anderson, Don and JeTonne McCasland, Curtis and Billie Tabor, Melburn and Caruth Johnston and his Sunday morning bible class.
