Carol Smith Waggoner Highfield, 73, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid, Okla.

Mrs. Highfield was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Pampa, Texas, to Elliott Nigh Smith and Lucy Beatrice Lynn Smith. She married Dorwin Waggoner in Perryton, Texas, on July 1947. He died Feb. 20, 1970. She married Quenten Highfield on July 15, 1976, in Perryton.

She was a secretary at KEYE radio station from 1967 to 1985 and owner of Waggoner Apartments. She graduated, as valedictorian, from Perryton High School in 1947, and was an active member of the 13th and Jefferson Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; and four brothers, Harold Smith, Othie Smith, Ollie Smith and Colin Smith.

Survivors are a son, Michael Waggoner, of Clovis; a daughter, Sherri Franklin, of Enid, Okla.; a brother, Virgil Smith, of Oklahoma City; and three sisters, Thelma Messer of Fort Worth, Texas, Gladys Wilson, of Fort Worth, and Lucille Rebman of Pryor, Okla.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be sent to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 1250 Highland Blvd., Suite 48, Staten Island, N.Y. 10305.

Mikel Peterson will officiate the service.

Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton, Texas.

Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton.
