Dr. Sebastian Stella

Dr. Sebastian “Subby” Frank Stella, 73, of Clovis, a dentist, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, in Clovis.

He was born June 11, 1930, in Omaha, Neb., to Frank and Lucia Stella.

He moved to San Diego in his early teens. He married Philomene Theobald on Nov. 29, 1959, in San Diego. They lived there until June 2002, then moved to Clovis where they decided to divide their time between their homes in Clovis and Palm Springs, Calif., giving them the opportunity to spend time with their children and grandchildren. He received his doctor of dental surgery degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha in 1955. He then spent two years as a captain in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Italy. Upon his return, he practiced dentistry in San Diego for 40 years, and retired in 1995.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gina Stella Girard (and husband, Owen) of Pasadena, Calif., and Laura Stella Rowley (and husband, Nicholas) of Clovis; two sons, Frank Stella (Kathy) of San Diego and Michael Stella of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Salvatore Stella MD (Donna) and Frank J. Stella MD (Grace), both of San Diego; one sister, Mary Rivera (George) of San Diego; and three grandsons, Nicholas John Girard and Alexander Sebastian Girard, both of Pasadena, and Maxwell Sebastian Rowley of Clovis.

A memorial service will be scheduled in San Diego at a later date.

Cremation has taken place.
