Neal Rasco, 73, of Clovis, died June 25, 2003, at his home.

He was born June 10, 1931, in Dickens, Texas, to George and Millie Rasco.

He moved to Clovis in 1946 where he met and married his wife of 55 years, Vera Louderback. As a union carpenter, he built homes, schools and churches in Clovis and the surrounding areas until he retired in 1980. He then worked as a used-product entrepreneur until he became disabled. Family members said he believed in strong work ethics and conservation of the earth’s resources, always had an open pantry for all friends and family, and supplied a surplus of love for his wife, children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Daisy Rasco; his brother, Winford Rasco; and sisters Druzella McWhorter, Mavis Yearly and Eva Nix.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Rasco of Clovis; two sons, Ray (and wife, Phyllis) Neal of Chaparral and Harley (and wife, Jean) of Clovis; two daughters, Vicie (and husband, John) Starkey and Trela Rupp of Clovis; three brothers, Presley (and wife, Mavis) Rasco of Puerta de Luna, E.L. (and wife, Martha) Vanzandt, of Levelland, Texas, and Jerry Rasco of Albuquerque; a sister, Maxine Goldsmith of Clovis; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Steed-Todd Funeral Home.

Brother Lawrence Thompson will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Dustin Rasco, Jayson Rasco, Rusty Rupp and Brian Rupp

Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis is handling arrangements.
