Mrs. Verna Parks, 61, of Clovis, a bag machine operator, died Tuesday, June 22, 2003, at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo.

She was born June 20, 1942, in Muleshoe, to James L. and Rue Tiller Hudson.

She married Carl Parks on March 12, 1960, in Clovis. She worked at National Beef in Liberal, Kan., then settled in Clovis in 1970. She was a member of the Assembly of God. Family members said she loved her grandchildren, caring for the elderly and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Darla Parks; and a sister, Audrey Parks.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Calvin Parks and Avery Parks (and wife, Cindy), all of Clovis; three daughters, Rhonda Smith (and husband, Ron) of Buckeye, Ariz., Peggy Welch (Kelly Rivila) of Clovis and Vickie Mowles of New Haven Fla.; two brothers, Bobby Hudson of Muleshoe and Delmer Hudson of Clovis; two sisters, Ima Jean Hudson and Sue Goldsmith, both of Sherman, Texas; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Hugh Wallis will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Muleshoe Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ron Smith, Chad Athem, Shawn Living, Josh Carlson, James and Aaron Parks and Kelly Rivila.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
