Mrs. Layola Garcia, 67, of Clovis, a homemaker, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
She was born on July 16, 1935, in Lubbock, Texas, to Alcario Sotelo and Josephine Anaya.
Mrs. Garcia was a lifetime Clovis resident. She married Juan Antonio Garcia on March 19, 1956, in Morton, Texas. She was a housewife and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. She enjoyed spending time with her family and in her fruit orchard, family members said.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Isabel Guzman and Gloria Anaya.
Survivors include her husband, Juan of Clovis; four sons, Alcario Tony Garcia, Richard (and wife Marcie) Garcia, Victor (and wife Marisa) Garcia and Jerry Garcia, all of Clovis; seven daughters, Amelia (and husband Heriberto) Torres, Yolanda Medrano, Victoria (and husband Jose Luis) Nanes, Teresa (and husband Arturo) Lopez, Anna (and husband Pepe) Jimenez, Linda (and husband Juan) Cruz and Lorraine Garcia, all of Clovis; two sisters, Celestina Aragon and Rena (and husband Jimmy) Martinez, all of Clovis; four half-sisters, Viola Sotelo, Pauline Sotelo, Amanda Sotelo and Rebecca Sotelo, all of Clovis; two half-brothers, Philip Sotelo and Alcario Sotelo Jr., both of Clovis; 46 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Rosary is at 7 tonight at Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The Rev. Sotero Sena will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories.
Pallbearers will be Alcario T. Garcia, Richard Garcia, Victor Garcia, Jose Luis Nanes, Arturo Lopez and Heriberto Torres.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
