Mr. Joseph “Joe” Allan Fahnert Jr., 84, of Clovis, a retired printer, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Laurel Plains Healthcare in Clovis.

He was born May 30, 1919, in New Orleans, to Joseph Allan and Theresa Helena Fahnert.

He served in the U.S. Army. Upon separation he worked for the Clovis News Journal before purchasing City Printing. He later worked for the New Mexico State Police as a photographer and at Allsup’s Convenience Stores as a printer and auditor. Family members said he enjoyed the outdoors and spent his spare time hunting, boating and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Willa Pearl Bell Fahnert.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Fahnert; two sons, Joseph Fahnert III (and wife, Marissa) of Houston and Ron Danklefs of San Diego; four daughters, Terri Wieser (and husband, Mark) of Lovington, Rosalie Keller (and husband, the Rev. Al) of Fort Wayne, Ind., Donna Lethgo (and husband, Harvey) of Clovis and Dixie Taylor (and husband, Richard) of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Bobby Bell will officiate the services.

Entombment will be at Plains Mausoleum in Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.

Pallbearers will be Shane and Zach Wieser, Roger Hein, Gary Lethgo, Craig Johnson, Brad Fahnert, Stoney and Shawn Taylor and Ryan Scroggins.

Honorary bearers will be Don McAlavy and David Rael.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development International Shrine Headquarters, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607-1460.
