Benjamin Franklin “Frank” Smith, 78, of Lubbock died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, in Lubbock.

He was born on March 27, 1925, in Clovis, where he was a member of a Methodist church and worked for the Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Auction.

He moved to Lubbock in 1969 and married Joyce Maxine Smith on July 15, 1972. He retired in 1985 and devoted his time to gardening and woodworking, family members said.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Danny Smith of Round Rock, Texas; a daughter, Donna Hand, of Arvada, Colo.; a sister, Lorena Reeves, of Austin, Texas; two stepdaughters, Joyce Phillips of Buda, Texas, and Debra Coward, of Boerne, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. (CDT) today at the Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 W. 19th St., in Lubbock.

Rev. Jerry Huggins and Rev. Eddie Markum will officiate services.

Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
