Mr. C.C. "Bud" Cagle, 91, of Clovis, a retired cost accountant, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

He was born on June 15, 1912, in Roswell, to Charles Clifton and Della Reese Cagle.

He was born when New Mexico was still a territory. He graduated high school in Roswell and attended college at University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Following graduation he moved to Clovis to join the family business, Gateway Auto Company, the first Ford dealership in Clovis, until its sale in 1964. He then worked at K. Barnett & Sons, retiring in 1982.

He was a Boy Scout during his youth and continued as an adult in various scouting leadership roles earning the Silver Beaver award. He joined the Army Air Corp at the beginning of World War II as a commercially rated civilian pilot serving until September of 1945. After returning to Clovis he trained many locals to fly and taught aerial acrobatics. While serving on the New Mexico State Aviation Board he helped secure funding for the Clovis Municipal Airport.

The family will gather at the home of Elizabeth Cagle, 2607 Gidding.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Modell McDade Cagle; and a brother, Reese Cagle.

He is survived by a daughter, Terri Crosby (and husband, Mike) of Running Springs, Calif.; a son, Trace Cagle of Clovis; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Cagle; two grandchildren, Kimberly and Nicole Crosby; and two nieces, Cindy Cagle and Nancy Blackburn.

The Rev. Herbert Bergstrom will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
