Samuel Moore, 87
Mr. Samuel Carlos Moore, 87, of Clovis, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, at Bee Hive Assisted Living in Clovis.
He was born on June 14, 1916, in Putnam County, Tenn., to Albert and Cora Ann Moore.
He worked for the AT&SF Railroad for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Albert Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Moore of Clovis; two daughters, Juanelle Mayes (and husband, Leslie) of Stockton, Calif., and Beulah Miller (Johnny) of Friona; a son, Thom Moore (Cozetta) of Portales; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Cleo Slaggle of Seymour, Texas; a brother, Bill Moore (Pat) of Hobbs; and a sister-in-law, Nadine Moore of Fort Worth, Texas.
Bob Hawkins and Jim Gammon will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be grandsons – Dean and Scott Mayes, Jody Lewellen, Stan Miller, Mark Osborn, Tucker and Trevor Moore and Logan Marshall.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis.
Elsie Reid, 71
Elsie H. Reid, 71, of Clovis, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
Arrangements will be announced by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Services are pending.
Kathy Robbins, 76
Mrs. Kathy Robbins, 76, of Amarillo formerly of Earth, Texas, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, in Amarillo.
She was born on Oct. 27, 1926, in Fort Payne, Ala.
She married Jim Robbins on Nov. 23, 1946, in Portales. She moved to Earth, Texas, in January of 1962 from Slaton, Texas. She was a newspaper distributor and a member of the First Baptist Church and the Rebekah Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Vera Burns, Johnnie Willene Hopkins and Mary Collins; a brother, John Henry Coe Jr.; and a granddaughter, Sandra Jo Banning.
She is survived by three sons, Wayne Robbins of Smyer, Texas, Jimmy Robbins of Pampa, Texas, and Johnny Robbins of Amarillo; two daughters, Patti Ray of Pampa, Texas, and Lynda Wright of Clovis; eight grandchildren, Bobbi, Kerri, Kandi, Kelsey, Holliana, Hunter, Michael and Cody; and seven great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Bobby Broyles will officiate the services.
Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. (MDT) Thursday at Portales Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home of Earth, Texas. Services are at 11 a.m. (CDT) Thursday at First Baptist Church in Earth, Texas.
John Stanley, 52
John V. Stanley, 52, of Portales, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at his home.

Ludney Thetford, 67
Mr. Ludney Thetford, 67, of Cravens, La., died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at his home in Cravens, La.
He was a native of Rogers and had lived in Cravens, La., for 36 years. He was an Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Thetford of Cravens, La.; four sons, James Lynn Thetford of Marlow, La., and Brent, Curt and Josh Thetford, all of Pitkin, La.; a daughter, Elaine Whitstine of Bartlesville, Okla.; a brother, Rod Thetford of Rogers; three sisters, Patsy Partin of Lubbock, Laura Roberson of Portales and Betty Turnbough of Clovis; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. (CDT) until 9 p.m. Friday at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La.
The Rev. R.C. Bayham will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Marlow Cemetery in Marlow Community, La.

D. Mark Worten, 53
Mr. D. Mark Worten Jr., 53, of Portales, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at his home.
He was born on April 2, 1950, in Mangum, Okla., to Virginia and Don Worten Sr.
He graduated from York High School in York, Neb., in 1968. He graduated in 1973 from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles with a degree in kinesiology. He worked with the Spastic Children’s Foundation in Los Angeles for several years and later became a bus operator for Los Angeles County, where he was employed for 17 years.
He married Raquel Soto on March 3, 1990, in Pasadena, Calif. He received a medical retirement in 1995, and in 1996 he and his family moved to Chama. They moved to Portales in 1997 and purchased a small farm. In 1998 he established a custom baling and swathing operation for area farmers. He was a member of the Faith Family Christian Church in Clovis. Family members said he enjoyed bow hunting, archery and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Aaron James Worten of Portales; two step-sons, Calvin Griffin Jr. of Portales and Chris Tostenson of Georgia; his parents; and two sisters, Fran Flores of Justin, Texas, and Terry Flewellyn of Lubbock.
The Rev. Joe Watson will officiate the services.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Worten, Hal Jilek, Glen Johnson, Ted Sharp, Lanny Hester, Calvin Griffin, Aaron Worten, Nester Jr. and Josephine Soto, Ted Flores, Ernie Scotti, Gary Padilla, Dr. James Jex and the hospice nurses.
