A Clovis mental health officer called police Wednesday morning to report that a 12-year-old student had been saying that if he had a gun he would shoot everyone in sight. When confronted, the student said he had only been joking and trying to make other students laugh.

Police contacted the student and warned him not to joke about guns in the future, and advised administrators to follow school disciplinary procedures since they could not provide sufficient evidence of misconduct to justify a search warrant or an arrest warrant against the student.
