Mrs. Shirley Mae Marshall, 71, of De Baca County, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.
She was born on March 7, 1932, in Fort Sumner, to Thomas Shirley and Myrtle Mae Patterson Conwell.
She attended Fort Sumner public schools. She married Hubert R. Marshall on March 24, 1950, in Santa Rosa. She worked for her grandfather who owned the Patterson Insurance Agency in Fort Sumner and later worked for the Department of Human Services for several years. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Family members said she enjoyed painting, bowling, fishing, traveling with the “Evil Eight” and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Linda Lee Marshall; and an infant brother, Donny.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Marcia Vick (and husband, John) of Gordonville, Texas; a son, Tommy Marshall (and wife, Tricia) of Fort Sumner; two sisters, Jackie Barbee (and husband, Bill) of Azle, Texas, and Mary Ann Hackworth (and husband, Gerald) of Goose Creek, S.C.; four grandchildren, Scott and Keith Marshall, both of Fort Sumner, Michawn Rucker of Coeur D Alene, Idaho and Rex Vick of Dallas; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Mitch Gray and the Rev. Coy Brewer will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rex and Jeff Vick, Scott and Keith Marshall, Stephen Barbee and Terry Rucker.
