Mr. William “Zeke” James, 86, of Clovis, a mechanic, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Buena Vista Retirement Home in Clovis.
He was born on Nov. 6, 1916, in Coolidge, Texas, to General and Willie B. Ray James.
He married Therma Mickels on Sept. 21, 1935, in Coolidge, Texas. They moved to Clovis in 1945 where he worked for Watson Motors as a mechanic for 33 years. He was a member and former deacon at First Church of God in Christ. Family members said he enjoyed hunting with his greyhound dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mildred Carroll.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, William H. James of Clovis and George James of Savannah, Ga.; seven daughters, Dovie Thomas of Phoenix, Shirley Tarver of Glendale, Ariz., Margie Washington of Avondale, Ariz., Dorothy Lockett of Milwaukee, Wis., Wanda Fisher of Vacaville, Calif., Gloria James of El Paso, Texas, and Debra James of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Ruby Faye Fox of Dallas; two brothers, Joe and Ray Thomas, both of Clovis; 25 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Muffley Funeral Home on Clovis.
Bishop W. Charles Green will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Archie, Robert Robinson, William H. James, Ricky Thomas, Willford Ransom, Keith Cass and Joe L. Dawson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Thomas Jr., James Tarver, Euit Washington, Joe Nathan Thomas, Frank Houston and Jessie Parker Jr.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
