An 8-year-old Clovis girl is recovering at home from bruises after being hit by a car about 7:20 a.m. Thursday while riding a bicycle.
According to police reports, a 52-year-old Clovis woman was driving eastbound on 21st Street approaching the intersection of Sycamore Street when the girl rode out in front of her. The driver had a green light, according to reports, and said she tried to avoid the collision but was unable to stop. The impact tossed the girl onto the cab and over the roof before she came to rest on the vehicle.
Several witnesses confirmed the driver’s report of the situation and the girl confirmed she went through a red light, according to police reports.
The vehicle received slight damage in the crash. The girl was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center where she was treated for complaints of pain in her left leg and right foot and released to her family.
According to the girl’s mother, who requested that the girl’s name not be released, the girl received only bruises.
