Mrs. Jean Parish, 80, of Clovis, retired, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1923, in Clovis, to Herbert and Vivian Hodges.

She was a member of the VFW Post 3280 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She held many offices within each organization; President of Military Oorder Cooties, President of the Eagles Auxiliary and Senior Vice President of Post 3280. She was on the pool team and the memorial team. Family members said she was a very active, high-spirited, loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Guarrie Hammack and Delphine Epperson.

She is survived by a son, James Burgett (and wife, Dana) of Virginia; a daughter, Jacki Reese (Tom) of Clovis; two grandsons, Scott Burgett (Cindy) and Brad Burgett (Mary), all of Virginia; a granddaughter, Desri Worley of Los Lunas; two great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.

The Rev. Joel Horne will officiate the services.

Cremation will take place.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of VFW Post 3280 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home in Portales.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
