Toynette Stockard, 87

Toynette Stockard, 87, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at her daughter’s home in Dallas. Services will be announced by Wheeler Mortuary in Portales. Services are Pending.

Leon Doolittle, 71

Mr. Leon Doolittle, 71, of Texico, a meat cutter, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born on April 19, 1932, in Clovis to Truman and Ruth Bell Doolittle. He lived in Clovis and Texico all his life.

The family ran a dairy where Clovis Municipal Airport is currently located.

He was a big Texico Wolverine fan, and he loved Bingo and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Darwin, Mansel, Jerial, Hershal and Kenneth.

Survivors include two sons, Terry (and wife Lisa) Doolittle of Amarillo and Randy Doolittle (and partner Stacy Milligan) of Ellijay, Ga.; two daughters, Margie (and husband Dennis) Smith of Baxter, Tenn., and Darla (and husband Scott) Faulkner of Clovis; three brothers, Marvin Doolittle of Clovis, Ansel Doolittle of Lubbock and Gayle Doolittle of Texico; two sisters, Doris Tucker of Anaheim, Calif., and Sue Scott of Plains, Texas; and four grandchildren, Victoria, Lacee, Ryan and Stacee.

Glenda Horner and John Dawson will officiate the services.

Burial will follow at Texico Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers are Donald Cross, John Dawson, David Hall, Paul Harmon, Vernon Painter, Ronnie Mitchell, Mickey Rush, Clarence Sena, Dow Thompson and Jerry “Hutch” Utsman.

The family will be at 120 Katherine St. in Texico.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis.

John Bogey, 75

Mr. John Lewis Bogey, 75, of Melrose, a retired civil service mechanic, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born on May 22, 1928, in Shaddock, Okla., to Howard and Melva Bogey. He was a longtime resident of Curry County. He married Oleta Hanks on Aug. 25, 1975, in Melrose. He worked as a mechanic for civil service at Cannon Air Force Base for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He also did maintenance for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway for 12 years. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and helping friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one stepson.

Survivors include his wife, Oleta, of the home in Melrose; three daughters, Patricia Wilson and Elsie Smith, both of Melrose, and Marilyn (and husband Sonny) McCoy of Portales; one brother, Emory Bogey of Bellflower, Calif.; two granddaughters, Danyell Wilson and Kimberlee Smith, both of Melrose; one grandson, Jonathan (and wife Carol) Wilson of Amarillo; two great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Larry Franklin of Plainview, Texas.

Durward Wofford and Danny Sanders will officiate the services.

Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ray Hester, Steve Scott, Carl Lightle, Johnny Beevers, Jerry Jacobs and Deon Dodd.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Jamie Felberg, Darrell Mitchell, Gordon Morris, Doyle Christesson and Chuck Wood.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Melrose.
