The Italian Job is about a sophisticated heist that will leave you intrigued and wanting more.
Many well known stars are grouped together in movie. Mark Wahlberg stars as Charlie, the planner with an imagination; Charlize Theron as Stella, the daughter of a great con-man, John. Donald Sutherland plays John, an ex-con and safe cracker pulling his last heist. Edward Norton plays Steve, the uninventive one of the group that isn’t exactly loved by all.
I went to see the movie because of Norton and left completely enamored in the characters Charlie and Stella. It goes without saying that I think Norton did a marvelous job, he can play the bad guy so well that I hate it, but the fact that I left the show thinking of other characters is a plus. Wahlberg is charming and if his goal was to get the audience to fall in love with him, I think he accomplished it.
The action in the movie is worth mentioning.
One of the heists involves the new car sensation-the mini. Three of them are used in an extensive chase that made me want to go for a drive. Throughout the movie I could not get over how cute the cars were and how easily they made it look to swerve in and out of traffic and turn corners at an extremely high speed. Do not try this at home, even though it looks like a lot of fun.
The Italian Job is a remake of a movie by the same name that was released in 1969. I didn’t see the original so I cannot comment on the similarities and differences, but I can say this is an excellent movie I would definitely go see again.
