American citizenship awards

The National Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals sponsors this award for students who exhibit the following traits: always prepared for class, homework finished on time, ready to help others, volunteer when needed, always play fair, treat everyone with respect and consistently exhibit good character.

Students receiving certificates from Principal Steve Harris include Kyle Adams, Tessa Bryant, Randi Carty, Morgan Erf, James Golden, Amanda Holt, Justin Jones, Kayla Jackson, Kayleigh Keller, Sunny Liu, and Chase May. Also Jerry Montoya, Daniel Perez, Mario Salazar, Anthony Schillingburg, Keith Seefeld, Colton Stanton, Heather Stroud, Tori Teague, Shaylee Vandever and Eric Vissage.

Presidential academic awards

Students earning this award must meet the criteria of a 3.5 or higher GPA and score above the 85th percentile on the CTBS tests. Counselor Alan Dodd presented students with a pen, a certificate signed by the U.S. Secretary of Education and President George W. Bush, and a letter signed by the President. Students receiving this recognition include Kyle Adams, Mario Aguirre, Richard Cage, Chris Christianson, Maricruz Cole, Rachel Elwell, Morgan Erf, Dora Garcia, Kevin Gonzales, Lourdes Guiterrez, Garrett Hatch, Amanda Holt, Justin Jones, Dennis Lopez, Jennifer Madrid, Saurabh Pandy, Patricia Parker, Skyler Partin, Matthew Pena, Jefferson Powers, Charlyn Richards, Harold Riser, Rebecca Salas, Mario Salazar, Eric Segovia, Chance Sherburne, Taylor Teague, Tori Teague, Talisa Terry, Eric Visage, Lindsey Woodward and Moriah Wortham.

All-A honor roll

Teri Thatcher and Steve Harris presented certificates to students who earned all A’s the first three quarters of the year. Seventh-grade students include Celeste Gonzales, Kayleigh Keller, Sunny Liu, Samuel Martinez, Jordan Roehl, Kassandra Short, Torre Stobb, and Bryan Watson; and eighth-grade students include Kyle Adams, Shyla Carthel, Jordan Ennis, Morgan Erf, Amanda Holt and Eric Visage.

Band awards

Outstanding seventh-grade musicians include Mark Pena, percussion; Heather Stroud, woodwind; and James Golden, brass. Eighth-grade outstanding students include Jordan Ennis, percussion; Lourdes Guiterrez, woodwind; and Justin Jones, brass. Shawn Vigil earned recognition for the PJHS Spirit Award while Eric Vissage did so for the PJHS Exemplar Award. Skyler Partin cinched the PJHS Ram Band Award.

MESA awards

Lourdes Gutierrez claimed Outstanding MESA member while Eric Visage and Daniel Perez held Outstanding 8th and 7th grader awards respectively. Shareen King, sponsor of Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement, recognized the following students for active participation in MESA all year: Wendy Carling, Michael Hatch, Sunny Liu, Sara Nicholes, Keith Seefeld, Bianca Solis, and Bryan Watson. James Golden, Michael Granados, Samantha Grider, A.J. Iturralde, Michael Lindsey, Samantha Orozco, Mark Pena, Chance Sink, Joe Sisneros, Heather Stroud, and Anthony earned part-time participation recognition.
