    Impoverished children around the world will have something special to open on Christmas morning, maybe for the first time, thanks to the effort of a Clovis church. For 10 years, Parkland Baptist Church has partnered with Operation Christmas Child, an outreach program offered through the Samaritan’s Purse international relief organization.     STAFF REPORT A smattering of businesses and residences in central Clovis had their power knocked out mid-afternoon Friday after a car accident took place near a transformer on 14th and Sycamore. Xcel Energy spokesperson Wes Reeves said 167 customers lost power around 2:15 p.m. after a car accident led to a pair of line fuses blowing. The power was restored 39 minutes later. Reeves said a total of 1,700 customers got what he called a “blink,” which is an interruption of power that lasts a few seconds at most and is som... Full story
