Staff Writer [email protected] In the wake of the recent special legislative session, Clovis Community College officials said during Wednesday’s board of trustees meeting the school is bracing for a $500,000 cut — but added in-house budgeting measures would help to cushion the blow. “All higher education institutions are going to receive a 5 percent cut,” Clovis Community College President Becky Rowley said. “This is after we already received a 2 percent cut to our current year’s appropriation. Our budget is due in May...
Education columnist Visiting schools at this time of year can be an adventure; this Halloween was no exception. Upon arriving at the Arts Academy at Bella Vista (AABV), I thought: “Shiver me timbers!” If there weren’t hordes of pirates as far as the eye could see! Not only were teachers fully decked out, but also students, clad in full pirate regalia, with headgear and eye patches, scabbards with daggers, cutlasses, and sabers, plastic though they be. While riveting, nothing could have prepared me for the sight upon enter...

Current policy bans drinking alcoholic beverage at the city-owned airport, but only in pu...
