  • My Turn - I am being spoiled this year

    Alisa Boswell

Last weekend marked an eventful one for me as I went to my first Eastern New Mexico University football game Saturday and got to see some of my favorite rock bands live on Sunday. The Uproar Festival in Albuquerque was well worth the money I spent on it to be able to see three of my favorite rock bands play. Some of those guys really knew how to put on a show with two band members from one band having a drummer stand off on stage. I realized later that I've been spoiled this year, because this was my fourth concert for the...

  • Dora adjusting to role as six-man power

    Eric Butler CMI Correspondent

Many communities in the southeast quadrant of the state have long traditions regarding football. Dora does too, but for a long time the tradition was not to field a football team at all. Things are progressing quickly in the little town though since Dora High started playing six-man football in 2007. Now, behind second-year coach Mason McBee, the Coyotes are at the point where thinking of a state championship is not far-fetched. After advancing to the state semifinals last year, Dora has started the current campaign with...

Christina Calloway: Portales News-Tribune Eastern New Mexico University Police Chief Brad Mauldin holds up a bag of marijuana confiscated from one of the ENMU dorms, part of the exhibits presented students Thursday in a marijuana and spice presentation held on campus. Students burst into laughter as they saw the effects of spice, a synthetic form of cannabis, take a toll on a young man in a video shown at a drug awareness presentation Thursday on Eastern New Mexico University's campus. His actions may have seemed funny, but...

  • New Mexico infrastructure criticized

    Christina Calloway PNT senior writer

Clovis City Engineer Justin Howalt believes the community is taking the right steps towards improving roadway infrastructure. But New Mexico's roads, airports, drinking water and other areas of infrastructure were criticized in a recent statewide report from the American Society of Civil Engineers. The ASCE graded New Mexico's state infrastructure average and found that repair and construction funding for the state's infrastructure is inadequate. An ASCE spokesman said that the report was conducted to point out deficiencies...

  • Godly people produce godly offspring

    Joan Clayton

Very soon we will have an opportunity to vote for a man who will hold the highest office in the land. This man controls not only our future, but also the destiny of our children and grandchildren. To some degree our country and our freedom depends on the wisdom and integrity of this man. It is our civic duty. This is a plea for you to exercise your right to vote as an American citizen. Not voting is giving mental assent to whoever and whatever is in power. Corruption and government waste prevail. Surely there are those who...
