    There will be five contested races in Curry County on Election Day, with three on the same school board. Candidates signed up Tuesday for various public school board, trustee and conservation district elections. This is the first year all of the elections were consolidated to the November general election as part of House Bill 407. After winning Thursday night’s home opener 3-1 over Artesia at Yucca Middle School, the Lady Wildcats improved to 5-0. And they had won those five games by a combined score of 36-2. Dominant start?   • Farwell wreck sends 2 to hospital

    FARWELL — Two people were transported to the hospital in Clovis early Wednesday afternoon following a wreck on U.S. 84 across from the Allsup’s convenience store in Farwell. Farwell Police Chief Larry Kelsay said one vehicle accidentally “sideswiped” another. One of the cars rolled, resulting in both passenger and driver being transported to Clovis by emergency responders. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
