    A rider soars in the air at a 2009 arena cross event in Oklahoma City. Motorcyclists performing tricks high in the air, zipping around corners on a mile-long dirt course of bumps and dips at 50 to 60 mph—this is motocross.   • City employees get salary increase

    By a unanimous vote, the Clovis City Commission agreed Thursday night to give city employees a 3 percent raise Each year, following completion of the final budget, City Manager Joe Thomas said consideration is given as to how much money is available to provide annual increases. "For the last couple of years, due to financial concerns," Thomas said, "we have not been able to give any increases to this level." City employees received a 2 percent increase in 2011.     Former DeBaca County Administrator MelindaJoy Pattison is the new interim executive director of the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico, the organization's board announced Thursday. Food bank board President Allan Isbell of Clovis said Pattison will temporarily fill the position held by Nancy Taylor, who died unexpectedly Aug. 2.     There's more Curry County fair fun to be had this weekend as the fair in Clovis finishes up this weekend with the motocross show tonight and Saturday and a concert performance by Aaron Watson at 9 p.m. Saturday. There will also be the enjoyment of fair rides and food. Another highlight to this weekend is an archeology presentation happening at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Blackwater Draw Site.
