CARLSBAD — The Clovis Zia All-Stars plated eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to break open a close game and went on to beat host Carlsbad 11-3 on Wednesday night to reach the finals of the Junior Division state Little League tournament. On my bookshelf I have a small softbound volume called New Mexico Handbook, written in 1989 by Stephen Metzger.
