  • Our people: Clovis barber Tom Wade has helped develop city

    Clovis resident Tom Wade, 74, has been a part of big things in Clovis. He worked with the Junior Chamber to turn Greene Acres Park Lake from a “swamp with weeds over your head” into a park where people want to spend time. Wade formed the Clovis Softball Association, which began with four teams and has grown to nearly 100. He recruited Guy Leeder into the CSA. Wade also served on the Ned Houk Park board for 20 years.     Greathouse The Greathouse reunion held for the 55th time in the Ingram Room at the Clovis-Carver Library on July 10, 2011. There were two clans represented with 32 people attending.     I love a car show, the chrome, the gasoline, the stories and all those great car songs on the loudspeaker. As we got ready to hold the show on the square at Portales last week and we were thinking about the music. I told one of the car show planners I would burn a CD with some good car music on it.
