    The Clovis Animal Shelter at 2203 East Brady Avenue, has picked up many homeless animals that community members can adopt. The adoption cost for any dog or cat is $165.00, which covers the animal’s sterilization, microchipping and initial vaccinations.     STAFF REPORT Eastern New Mexico residents got a short respite from week’s relentless heat on Friday, but even that came with its own mix of problems. Amid a week of triple-digit temperatures, Clovis was hammered with about a half hour of hard rains. According to KVII’s Schoolnet, Clovis received .44 inches as of 8 p.m., when the rain subsided.     A few days ago I had to take a quick run to the store to pick up a couple of items forgotten on the previous trip. Since I just needed a couple of items I Lonnie Berry just ran to the local big box because it is closest to my house.
