  • Feds deny reports of Boston suspect is arrested

    BOSTON — Federal officials denied a suspect was under arrest Wednesday in the Boston Marathon bombings. A law enforcement official briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press earlier in the day that a suspect was in custody. The FBI and the U.S. attorney's office in Boston said that no arrests had been made. The official who spoke to the AP did so on condition of anonymity and stood by the information even after it was disputed.     CANYON, Texas — The Eastern New Mexico University softball team set a new record for walks issued Wednesday night, and took all of one game to match it. Host West Texas A&M, ranked fifth in NCAA Division II, took complete advantage of 26 total walks in the Lone Star Conference doubleheader, with 15 of those baserunners scoring in 14-0 and 19-3 wins.     Eastern New Mexico University has a deadline of May 1 to file a report with the NCAA over academic irregularities in its athletic department for the 2012-13 school year. Another report, going back to the 2008-09 school year, is due by Aug. 1, ENMU athletic director Jeff Geiser said. Irregularities uncovered by the school early in the fall have affected the eligibility of athletes in every sport at the school to varying degrees except for rodeo, which does not come under the NCAA umbrella.
