    CLOVIS — The three men charged with escaping from the Clovis jail on Friday — and the jail officer accused of helping them - appeared via video in Curry County Magistrate Court on Wednesday. Judge Duane Castleberry said the state filed pre-trial detention motions for all four individuals, so they were not eligible for a bond.     PORTALES — The Portales animal shelter dominated the public comment portion of Tuesday’s Portales City Council meeting. A misunderstanding regarding the shelter’s euthanasia policy may have led to the public outcry. Animal rescue workers Monica Eppinger and Kirsten Peterson-Barber presented the council with an online petition, which as of Wednesday afternoon had more than 16,000 signatures from around the world.     CLOVIS — A former daycare worker fired for fighting in front of more than a dozen 4-year-old children was arrested Wednesday. Elizabeth Parrez, 25, is charged with 13 counts of abuse of a child (does not result in death or great bodily injury) and one count of battery, court records show. Parrez was booked into the Clovis jail at 2:37 p.m. on Wednesday. No bond information was immediately available.     CLOVIS — The Clovis City Commission will consider clearing up language on what it means for cats and dogs to run at large and decide on whether to accept a negotiation on property liens.     CLOVIS — The Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority could have a new home following today’s meeting. The board is scheduled to vote on a lease agreement for a new office space. The ENMWUA currently works out of 809 Parkland Drive, Suite A, in Clovis, but Administrator Orlando Ortega said they are looking to downsize to be more efficient.
