  • Door open for EpiPen competition

A whopping 547 percent increase! Ka-ching! The price for a two-pack of life-saving EpiPens has risen from about $94 to about $608 over eight years. Good for Mylan N.V. investors. Not so much for consumers. Of course, Mylan, which owns the rights to market EpiPens, says it’s not price gouging with a product that’s been around since 1986. But certainly recouping research and development costs should no longer be an issue. In response to national outrage — including calls for congressional hearings and a Federal Trade Commi...

  • Wilson: 'Tommy Boy' remains Oscar-worthy

    Kevin Wilson

Life provides us with great, unanswered questions daily. Why are we here? How is it I use the same ingredients and instructions, and still cook food that isn’t as good as when my parents make it? Why do left turners cut into another driver’s lane when the intersection provides all the turning area they need? Wilson My current burning question: Why is there still no Academy Award for Best Comedy? Some day, there will be one, and we’ll wonder about the movies that would have...

After my second retainer in less than two years split recently, I trekked back up to Farnsworth Orthodontics in Clovis. Although I have not had braces since I was 14 years old, as I told the girls in the doctor’s office, I am a “lifetimer” for wearing a retainer at night. I’m not one of the lucky ones who got to stop wearing it altogether after a few years.
