  • Sheriff's deputy awaiting COVID-19 test results

    CLOVIS — A Curry County sheriff’s deputy last week was instructed to self-quarantine until results from a COVID-19 test could be obtained. The deputy, who was not identified, notified county officials on Wednesday of “a possible exposure a household member had to an individual who had tested positive for COVID-19,” according to Melissa Gunn, the county’s personnel coordinator.     CLOVIS — A family member of a Clovis police officer has tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in the postponement of a police flag ceremony that had been scheduled for Wednesday. An email from Chief Doug Ford to a dozen recipients, obtained by The News on Friday, states: “We have had a day shift officer family member test positive for COVID-19.   • Next reopening phase to begin Monday

    CLOVIS — Starting Monday, New Mexico begins its next phase of reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic. A public health order effective at the beginning of June allows for the reopening of dine-in restaurants, salons and gyms with occupancy limitations. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham anticipates the public health order covering 30 days, but noted there may be modifications if infection data changes.
