    Cannon Connections staff Area historians sometimes refer to Blacktower Cemetery as one of eastern New Mexico’s “lost cemeteries.” That’s because most of the gravesites have been covered in sand for decades and the number of graves is unknown. Volunteers are scheduled to gather May 29-30 to help clean up the century-old resting place, which is located north of U.S. Highway 60/84 on County Road R just west of Cannon’s Chavez Housing edition. Working from a tent while deployed or at home late into the night, a now-retired Cannon Air Force Base airman has earned three college degrees, including a doctorate. Bob Elliott, a 25-year veteran who retired in 2004, graduated May 8 with a doctorate in Higher Education from Texas Tech University. He did most of the work for his bachelor’s and master’s degrees while on active duty. Elli...

Cannon is certainly poising itself to make use of all available space to accommodate the tremendous growth we expect here.
