    CLOVIS — After two decades of dressing eastern New Mexico, Dillard’s department store is planning to close its North Plains Mall location. Dillard’s has been the southside anchor for the mall since 2000. It moved into its current location soon after Walmart left the mall spot in 1999. Clovis’ store manager Christopher Addison confirmed the store’s closing, but said additional information would have to come from corporate offices.   • Retirement facility tests 234 for COVID-19

    CLOVIS — All of the residents and 95% of staff at Clovis’ Retirement Ranch were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, according to social services director Trisha Gross. Gross told The News Monday morning the facility has so far conducted 234 tests, and any remaining tests are still to be conducted on part-time staffers. Curry County Manager Lance Pyle said Sunday about 75% of residents and staff were tested and the rest would be tested Monday or Tuesday, with the National Guard delivering the tests to Tri-Core Labs in Alb... Full story

    CLOVIS — Citing a potential risk of COVID-19 exposure, Clovis Municipal Schools has halted grab-and-go meal service at Parkview Elementary for the final three scheduled days of the service. Students who were served at Parkview are asked to use Yucca Middle School as an alternative meal site through Wednesday. Beginning Thursday, La Casa will offer its own grab-and-go summer meal program, and will use Parkview as one of its sites. The La Casa program does not use the Parkview kitchen.... Full story

    PORTALES — When the Heartland Continuing Care Center resident first learned on Friday that she’d tested positive for COVID-19, she was none too happy about it. “She gave us an earful,” Heartland CEO Ranelle Tweedy said of the 96-year-old woman’s reaction to the news. “She said nobody was going to tell her she had this silly virus.” Tweedy said the resident, whom she would not identify because of privacy laws, had not felt sick before or after she was most recently tested on May 12.
