CLOVIS — Chanse Bhakta has been selected this year’s winner of the Dick and Bertha Rowley award. The award, established by Richard, Nick and Mac Rowley in honor of their parents, is a $1,000 grant to a Clovis High School senior with the highest grade-point average from grades 10-12 among those who have lettered in a varsity sport. PORTALES — The Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a party for first responders who battled the 267 Fire in April. CANNON AIR FORCE BASE — A partnership between Cannon Air Force Base and The Conservation Fund has resulted in the protection of more than 30,000 acres of land adjacent to the Melrose Air Force Range, according to a Cannon release. A conservation easement has been placed on the land, which surrounds the range.
