    Thank goodness the snow finally arrived in New Mexico and the Colorado mountains. It was only a matter of time before the lack of snow was blamed on global warming.     An eastbound train struck a flatbed trailer at the intersection of U.S. 84 and the New Mexico/Texas state line Friday night, police said. Emily Patterson of the Farwell Police Department said the accident occurred at 10:20 p.m. CST. The driver of a commercial pickup truck pulling a 35- to 40-foot trailer carrying heavy machinery stopped at the tracks because the barrier arms were down.     The long and winding road to a new farm bill got a leg up Friday as the Senate passed its own $286 billion version. The bill, passed on a 79-14 vote, expands subsidies for wheat, barley, oats, soybeans and several other crops and creates new grants for vegetable and fruit growers. It also increases loan rates for sugar producers, extends dairy programs and provides more dollars for renewable energy and conservation programs to protect environmentally sensitive farmland over the next five years.     DavTek vice president Randy Kamradt is scheduled to update county commissioners today on the progress of the special events center. The county hired DavTek to manage the construction of the facility. At the Dec. 4 county commission meeting, County Manager Lance Pyle said the total cost of constructing the 96,100 square-foot, 6,600-seat facility was not set.     The Associated Press LAS CRUCES — A state district judge decided Monday that he would not hear a lawsuit over the state Environmental Improvement Board’s recent adoption of more stringent emission standards for new vehicles in New Mexico.     More than 30 reports of damage to lawns, outdoor Christmas decorations and vehicles trickled into Clovis police Saturday and Sunday. Dispatcher call logs show residents in several different areas of the community reported broken vehicle windows, punctured, destroyed or stolen decorations, and lawns and landscape damaged by vehicles.
