    LOVINGTON — Clovis High's track teams tuned up for District 4-5A competition this week at Hobbs by nearly sweeping the Ross Black Relays on Friday. The Lady Wildcats cruised to the girls team title with 127 1/2 points to 102 for Hobbs in the seven-school competition. Meantime, Artesia finished with 103 1/2 points to 102 for CHS on the boys' side.     ALAMOGORDO — The Curry County Cats pitched a second-half shutout Saturday, turning a close contest into a 27-12 victory over the Alamogordo Desert Dawgs. The Cats (7-2) clinched a playoff berth with the win, and are in the driver's seat to win the Rio Puerto Division of the New Mexico Premier League.     LOVINGTON — Portales' track teams found the going pretty rough against mostly Class 4A and 5A competitionon Friday in the Ross Black Relays, finishing last in the seven-school field in both boys and girls competition. Artesia scored 103 1/2 points to edge Clovis (102) for the boys' team title, while Clovis scored 127 1/2 points to 102 for runnerup Hobbs in girls competition. The program was presented by Dick Sullinger, who joined the Navy at age 17 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He served on the USS San Diego, the first victorious American warship to enter Tokyo Bay.
