  • New bill gets teachers into classrooms faster

    STAFF WRITER [email protected] A new bill changing requirements for students in New Mexico looking to enter teaching has been signed into law by Gov. Susana Martinez. Senate Bill 329 will reduce the mandatory college coursework needed to obtain an elementary and secondary education licensure from 57 arts and science credit hours to 41 credit hours, and it will increase student teaching from 14 weeks to 16 weeks. Burns, a student at New Mexico State University, was injured when a wing on his glider collapsed as he soared off of a hillside.   • Clovis schools receive $2.3 million in reimbursements

    Staff Report Clovis Municipal Schools has received $2.3 million in state reimbursement from the Public Schools Facilities Authority for the 2013 construction of Gattis Middle School. According to CMS Operations Director John King, at the time of construction the 2012-2017 Facility Master Plan projected a capacity of 900 students.
