New Mexico lawmakers have rejected a proposal that would have repealed the state's anti-abortion law, according to the Albuquerque Journal. The legislation, backed by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, failed on an 18-24 vote after a brisk debate on the Senate floor. House Bill 51 sought to repeal a law that makes it a crime to end a woman's pregnancy, except in certain circumstances. About 4,000 Xcel Energy customers in Clovis-Portales were without power late Thursday afternoon as crews continued to repair damages from Wednesday’s wind storm. But there was good news: The electric company reported "the majority" of those impacted would have power restored before midnight Thursday.
